Does My Phone Support eSIM? Compatibility Checker

The fastest check is to dial *#06#: if an EID appears alongside the IMEI, your phone supports eSIM. The checker below gives you the settings path for your brand, plus three caveats that catch people out.

Thirty-second self-check

Three caveats people miss

  • 1. The handset must be carrier-unlocked. eSIM support does not mean it will accept another operator's profile. Contract handsets bought abroad, or locked carrier models, can fail partway through installation. Phones bought outright in Taiwan are usually fine.
  • 2. Regional versions of the same model differ. Mainland-China iPhones have no eSIM, and certain regional Android builds drop it too. Go by the *#06# result on the phone in your hand, not by the model name.
  • 3. One QR code installs once. Installing on the wrong phone, or deleting the profile, means buying again. Confirm you are installing on the phone you are actually travelling with.
