India e-Visa 2026: Taiwan fees change with the season, and the four-day cut-off is firm
India's e-Visa is open to Taiwan passport holders, but the fee is seasonal, the validity comes in three lengths, and only designated crossings accept it. Here are the rates that actually apply to Taiwan, how each validity is counted, the application window, and the entry-point rule.
What is the India e-Visa, and is Taiwan eligible?
The India e-Visa is an online-issued entry authorization covering tourism, business and medical travel. The official list runs to more than 175 countries and territories, and Taiwan is included, so there is no need to visit a representative office in person.
Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs also lists India under electronic visa, specifying that Taiwan nationals should apply online at least four days before the intended date of departure (list updated 23 July 2026).
For tourism the category is the e-Tourist Visa, available in 30-day, one-year and five-year versions, all of them multiple-entry.
India e-Visa fees for Taiwan passport holders
From India's published e-Tourist Visa fee schedule, where Taiwan appears as entry 154:
| Validity | Fee (USD) | Stay rules |
|---|---|---|
| 30 days (arrival April–June) | US$10 | 30 days from first entry; non-extendable, non-convertible |
| 30 days (arrival July–March) | US$25 | As above |
| 1 year | US$40 | From the grant date; maximum 180 days in India per calendar year |
| 5 years | US$200 | From the grant date; maximum 180 days in India per calendar year |
A 3% bank transaction charge is added on top, rising to 4% for PayPal payments through SBIePay. The seasonal split on the 30-day visa is specific to India: April to June is the hottest part of the year and carries the lower rate. How to apply for an India e-Visa, and the timing limits
Designated ports of entry for the India e-Visa
An e-Visa is only valid at designated crossings: currently 36 airports, 38 seaports and 12 land checkposts. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru are all included, so a conventional tourist itinerary rarely runs into the limit. A plan involving an overland entry or a smaller port is worth checking against the list in advance, because a non-designated crossing requires a regular visa.
Data in India: why a local SIM is awkward on a short trip
| Option | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| eSIM | Short tourism and business trips; working on landing | Handset must support eSIM; install before departure |
| Local physical SIM | Longer stays | Documentation and verification, and activation may not complete the same day |
| International roaming | Transits and very short trips | Higher rates; confirm the daily cap first |
| Hotel Wi-Fi | In-room use | No coverage in transit, where ride-hailing and navigation matter most |
Ride-hailing and payments in India run almost entirely through apps, so data is needed from the moment you land. Plan comparisons are in our India eSIM guide, and eSIM showing no signal lists the settings to check first if anything looks wrong on arrival.
India e-Visa: frequently asked questions
How much does an India e-Visa cost for a Taiwan passport?
From India's official e-Tourist fee schedule, the rates for Taiwan are: 30 days at US$10 for arrivals in April to June and US$25 for arrivals from July to March; one year at US$40; five years at US$200. A 3% bank charge is added (4% for PayPal via SBIePay). Checked October 2026.
How far in advance should I apply?
At least four days before arrival, and no more than 120 days ahead. The four-day minimum is a hard floor, so it matters for last-minute trips.
How are the 30-day, one-year and five-year validities counted?
The 30-day visa runs for 30 days from first entry. The one-year and five-year visas run from the date the authorization is granted, with a cap of 180 days in India per calendar year. All three allow multiple entries.
Which ports of entry accept an India e-Visa?
Thirty-six airports, thirty-eight seaports and twelve land checkposts are designated, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru. An itinerary using a non-designated crossing needs a regular visa instead.
Can the e-Visa be extended or converted?
The 30-day version is explicitly non-extendable and non-convertible. If your plans may shift, the one-year version is the simpler choice from the start.
How should I arrange data for a trip to India?
Buying a local physical SIM involves documentation and verification that is awkward for a short visit. Installing an eSIM before you fly avoids it — the Peanutmo India eSIM offers high-speed 4G/5G with stable reception in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
